HEAPS GAY RAINBOW MOUNTAIN IS HERE AND WE’RE READY FOR SOME DAMN SNOW
By Sam Eacott
The qweens are hitting the mountain!!!! September 4th we’re back at Thredbo for another season of snow silliness with the likes of Kira Puru, imbi the girl, Rachel Maria Cox and a whole lot more queens and DJs. Think sexy 80’s Aspen skii lodge queer times with mimosa’s and Absolut vodka plus toasty smores by the fire. To get you pumped with got your queer snow season essnetials below.
You’re not getting all the way to Thredbo without a banging Spotify playlist to keep you and your car load of cuties hyped until your feet first touch snow. Luckily we’ve assembled for you the most Heaps Gay playlist of corkers you’ve ever heard featuring a tonne of muso and party pals both oz and international. Dare You Not To Dance by Haiku Hands is a good way to summarise this one.
FAB SKII GEAR
Be fab, ski fab. Get your hunt on for skii gear cause everyone will be looking their retro best on the mountain including the queens. Check some inspiration below and if you’re still looking for ideas get your old VHS tapes out and get yourself down to spotlight with a hot glue gun.
OP SHOPPING & VINEYARD
Who doesn’t love a road trip? Better yet who doesn’t love a road trip with cheese boards, vineyards and op shops every ten minutes? Our bet is a select few and luckily they won’t be coming to Rainbow Mountain.
Stop in at Cooma, Berrima, Lake George or any of the other blissful slice of country life towns that are available on the way.
THE LODGE & RAINBOW MOUNTAIN VIBES
On 6pm Wednesday we’ll be kicking off the night with welcome drinks in lounge bar, expect free flowing wine and cocktails like you’ve never seen and Radha La Bia your host for the night making you feel all too welcome. We’ll be kicking onto the Schuss Bar just a skip, jump and a hope away where the debauchery continues into the wee hours with music and our gang of qweens. Don’t go to bed too late though as Thursday’s a huge one.
Get your butt out of bed and you’ll be lucky enough to see the queens kicking off the festivities on the mountain with DJ’s and angels out in the snow on Cozi all morning. Things migrate to the poolside later in the evening then we’ve got two spaces and bars to keep you up late with performances and all the music vibes you could ask for.
The weekend is where things really heat up with live performances from pop legend and festival headliner Kira Puru, Bondi local imbi the girl and Newcastle’s Rachel Maria Cox. If that isn’t enough we’ve also got performances from Felicia Foxx, Dyan Tai and DJ’s including queer fam favourites Stereogamous, Dan Murphy and DJ Hamo. Suss the vibes, get the squad and hope in the party van for the weekend because it’s going to be cuuuuuute.
